Why am I seeing duplicate trades?
Seeing double? Duplicate trades usually happen when the same data is imported twice through different paths. Here's how to fix it.
TraderSign tries its best to keep your logs clean by skipping trades it has already imported. However, if the data is presented to us in slightly different ways, duplicates can occasionally sneak through.
The main culprit: Overlapping Imports
The most common reason for duplicates is mixing and matching how you bring in your data.
Watch out for these scenarios:
- Auto-Sync + File Upload: If you have MetaTrader auto-sync turned on, but you also manually upload a CSV file covering the same week, you'll likely see duplicates.
- Overlapping Files: If you upload a file of "Last Month's Trades" and then another one for "Year to Date," the trades from last month are in both files. If those files don't have unique "Ticket IDs," we might import them twice.
- Multiple Sources: If you import a statement from your broker and then a separate report from a prop firm for the same account, they might formats the same trades differently.
How to find the double entries
- Go to Settings → Import History.
- Look for two imports that happened around the same time or cover the same dates.
- Check the "Trades Added" count. If you see two different imports adding 50 trades each for the same Monday, that's your smoking gun.

How to clean them up
If you've already imported duplicates, don't worry—you can fix it:
- Delete the Import: In your Import History, you can often delete an entire "run." This will remove all the trades that were brought in during that specific upload without affecting your other data.
- Manual Cleanup: If it's just a few trades, you can delete them one by one from your Trade Logs.
How to prevent duplicates in the future
- Pick one method: If you're using auto-sync, stick to it! Don't manually upload files to that same account unless you're trying to backfill data from before you connected the sync.
- Use the "Sync" button: Instead of uploading a new file every day, let Auto-Sync handle it.
- Check for Ticket IDs: Most professional platforms (MT4/5, cTrader) include unique Ticket IDs. If your source has these, TraderSign is 100% accurate at skipping duplicates. If you're using a custom CSV, try to include a unique ID column.
Pro Tip: If you're not sure which trades to delete, contact support. It's better to ask than to accidentally delete months of journaling!
