Read-Only Mode Explained

Can see your trades but can't add new ones? Your account might be in Read-Only mode. Here's exactly what that means.

If you see a notice that your account is "Read-Only," it's usually because your subscription or trial has ended. The most important thing to know is that your data is safe. We don't delete your trade history or journals just because your subscription lapsed.

What is Read-Only mode?

Think of it as a "Look, but don't touch" state.

You can still:

  • View all your old trades and execution history.
  • Open your dashboard and see your performance stats.
  • Read and review your existing journal entries.
  • Download past invoices.

You cannot:

  • Create new trading accounts.
  • Sync or import new trades.
  • Add new journal notes or tags.
  • Use premium tools like the Replay or advanced filters.

Screenshot pending: capture a read-only state here once the account is in that billing/access mode.

Why did this happen?

Most of the time, it's one of these:

  • Trial Ended: Your free trial of TraderSign has finished.
  • Subscription Expired: Your monthly or yearly plan reached its end date.
  • Payment Failed: We tried to renew your subscription but the payment didn't go through (e.g., an expired card).

How to get back to full access

Restoring your account is easy:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Review your current plan.
  3. Update your payment method or choose a new plan to reactivate your account.

Once your payment is processed, the Read-Only restriction is lifted immediately, and you can jump right back into importing your trades.

Still feel stuck?

If you think your account should be active but you're still seeing the Read-Only message:

  • Refresh the page: Sometimes the UI just needs a quick reload after a payment.
  • Check your Invoices: See if there was a failed payment attempt recently.
  • Reach out: If everything looks right on your end, contact our support team and we'll take a look.
